Did You Know… The Library Has Mental Health Resources?

At the library, we aim to provide resources to support wellness of all types. Right now is Mental Health Week, a time to open up conversation about mental health challenges. Here are some ways the library can help you get in that mindset – for yourself, your loved ones, your community.

Programs

The library regularly offers wellness programming for adults and seniors. This month, we're hosting programs about forest bathing, crystal singing bowls, managing strained interpersonal relationships, and more.

Through May, students in grades 5–7 can participate in the Mindful Choices program, offered in partnership with Strathcona County Family and Community Services.

Materials

The Bookmobile offers two different Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds kits, with supplies to support a connection to nature and gardens.

The preschool picture books I Am Stuck by Julia Mills and Heart Takes the Lead by Stuart Scott are gentle introductions to helping others.

And below are a couple of book and movie lists for teens and adults.

Even if they aren't always fully accurate portrayals of mental health issues, we hope they help raise awareness and generate discussion.
