Get to Know Your Library Staff: Lindsay

What is your job title?

Bookmobile Services Specialist

When did you start working at the library?

January 2022

How would you describe your role at the library?

I have the privilege of bringing the library's collections, services, and programs to the rural communities around Strathcona County.

What do you like best about your job?

It's too difficult to narrow it down to just one thing! I love seeing how excited kids get when they find the perfect book on the Bookmobile, and how new friendships form at our tween and teen programs. It's also really fun to drive the bus.

What do you wish people knew about the library?

To quote another librarian, Jo Godwin, "A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone." It's a sign that libraries are doing their job well: defending the right to read, providing free access to information, and protecting intellectual freedom.

Which books or resources in the library do you find most interesting?

All the non-traditional things patrons can borrow, like radon detectors, pet microchip scanners, and birdwatching kits.

Tell us about one book/movie/album/magazine that you really love.

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I listened to the audiobook on Libby and I never wanted it to end!

When you're not reading or working you're...

Singing, playing the French horn, knitting, cross-stitching, cuddling my cat, and drinking coffee.
