Are you looking for children’s books in Spanish? Here’s what you can find in the library and online with your library card!
Visit the Discovery Zone on the main floor of the library to find Spanish books in the Children’s World Languages section. This growing collection has picture books and board books in Spanish, including some bilingual books with English and Spanish text side-by-side.
The library also has several online resources where you can find ebooks, music, magazines and more:
- hoopla: Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, music and movies! There are thousands of kids’ Spanish titles, including nonfiction and comics. To find Spanish titles, go to the advanced search (click on the three dots in the search bar) and choose Spanish from the Language drop-down menu. Turn on "Kids Mode" in the top right to see only children's titles.
- BookFlix: BookFlix pairs a video version of a storybook with a related nonfiction book. Books with a red “ES” band have a Spanish version. Use the “Español” button in the top right to only see books with a Spanish option.
- TumbleBooks: On TumbleBooks, you can find read-along picture books—books that you read and listen to at the same time. Switch to the Spanish version of the site by going to “Language” in the top left corner.
- Kanopy: Check out the kids’ section of Kanopy to find more read-along storybooks. Click on “Search,” then choose “Spanish” from the language filter on the left side of the screen.
- Libby/OverDrive for Kids: Visit OverDrive or the Libby app to find downloadable ebooks and magazines. In the Libby app, go to the Kids section, then use the filters to choose a language. On the website, use the advanced search to find Spanish titles for kids.
- PressReader: PressReader lets you read magazines from all over the world and in many different languages. Scroll down to “Catalog” and choose “Spanish” from the language drop-down menu, then scroll down to “Categories” to visit the Children & Tweens section.
We are excited to have our first Spanish storytimes at the library this fall! Join us for ¡Hola! Spanish Rhyme Time to explore the Spanish language through music, movement and rhymes. This storytime for ages birth to 4 and their adults is perfect for Spanish-speaking families and anyone looking to introduce their little ones to the language.
