Bingo! Get a Library Card and a Chance to Win a Camera

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and to celebrate, we have a special promotion this year. It’s a contest that’ll teach you about all the amazing things you can do with your library card!

From September 3–29, we’ll be offering Library Bingo for adults and kids. Each bingo card has fun, easy-to-do activities that can be completed with a library card—either by borrowing materials or using our online resources. There are also some squares that will ask you to find things in the library.

Getting a Card

You can pick up a bingo card at the Information Desk on our first floor, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3. Bingo cards can also be picked up on the bookmobile.

Or, download a kids card or adult card and print your own.

Submitting a Card

Anyone who completes a line or four corners can enter to win a prize, with a maximum of five entries per person. To enter, bring your completed bingo card back to the central library or bookmobile. You can also take a photo of your completed card and email it to bingo@sclibrary.ca. (Remember to include your name and phone number in the body of the message.)

We’ll need to have your entry by 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. Two winning entries will drawn at random from all entries received.

Prizes

There are two fabulous prizes: instant print cameras! We’ll have one for kids and one for adults, along with an extra supply of film. But the best prize, really, is discovering all the new worlds that a library card is your free passport to.

More Info

Do I have to have a library card to participate in Library Bingo?
Strictly speaking, no. But it would be difficult to complete a bingo card without one. Library cards are free and available to all residents of Strathcona County, so why not get one? You can even sign up online.

I’m a bookmobile patron. How does this work for me?
Easy! Pick up a bingo card aboard the bookmobile. Cards will be available starting September 3.

A lot of the squares on the bingo cards are based around digital services. What if I don’t have internet?
You can come in to the central library and use our free wireless. If you’re in the rural part of the county, you can use the free wireless at county facilities and any rural community hall.
