With Pride Month quickly approaching, we wanted to let everyone know about the events and activities that are planned for our library and the surrounding community.
Library Programs
Pride Community Art Project
In early May, County teens came together to create the components of a community art installation. The finished piece will be displayed in the library throughout the month of June.
Kindness Is Contagious

Learn about kindness through inspiring stories and songs, and make a special gift to show someone how much you care.
Understand Gender Stereotyping, opens a new window
Tuesday, June 17 | 7:00–8:30 pm
(teens, adults & seniors)
We'll unpack gender stereotypes and how they play a role in sexual violence. We'll also cover topics like consent and coercion, and share skills and resources for what to do if someone discloses to you that they've experienced sexual violence.

Come for a visit with ihkwewak (Two-Spirit people) Chantelle Gray, Shirra Letendre, and Damien Majorsmith on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Stitch Your Pride, opens a new window

Learn to cross stitch in an inclusive environment, creating your very own pride flag.
Library Displays and Activities
Throughout Pride Month, you'll find displays and activities for all ages at the library:
- Look for book displays on the Preschool wall, in the Discovery Zone, in the Teen Zone, and on the Adults A-Frame shelving, near the front doors of the library.
- You’ll find a special display on the preschool bulletin board.
- Create your own Pride pinwheel, on board the Bookmobile.
- The Discovery Zone will be hosting a bookmark colouring activity.
- And the Teen Community Art Project will be displayed in the library for the duration of Pride Month.

In the last few years, there has been a trend in children’s literature towards teaching children how to accept each other for both our similarities and our differences, as well as breaking through common gender stereotypes.
