    Yes. We can help in a few ways:

    • You can book a free one-hour one-on-one appointment with our resume tutor to review your resume or cover letter. Appointments are available evenings and weekends. Contact us.
    • Sign up for our monthly resume and cover letter workshop.
    • Use your library card to log in to Brainfuse JobNow to access online career coaches and resume templates, or submit your resume and cover letter to receive written feedback from a career coach within one business day.
  • Tech Help

    Yes. Staff at the information desk can help you with this if you come into the library or call 780-410-8601. We can also book an hour-long one-on-one appointment to go through the processes in-depth.

    Yes. We have technology classes on a variety of topics and can also book one-on-one appointments with staff to help you get started with:

    • Android devices (phones/tablets)
    • iOS devices (iPhone/iPad)
    • Windows computers

    We have technology classes on a variety of topics and can book one-on-one appointments with staff to help with a variety of issues, including using Microsoft Office software, Zoom, creating accounts on websites, using password managers, and more.

    There are a wide variety of applications out there so we cannot be experts in all of them, but we can help you search out the information you need to get started.

  • Genealogy Tutor

  • Exam Proctoring

    We proctor exams at the Central Library at the following rates:

    • Residents of Strathcona County or Ft. Saskatchewan: $50 + GST
    • Non-residents: $75 + GST

    To request exam invigilation, please fill out a Proctoring Request Form.

    NOTE: Please provide at least two weeks' notice.

  • Immigrant Settlement Service

    They are usually at our library two days a week: Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    The settlement practitioner can help newcomers with things like:

    • Finding a place to live
    • Obtaining an Alberta Health Card, Social Insurance Number, drivers' license, and Canada child tax benefit
    • Setting up bank accounts
    • Assessing work skills, accreditation, and licensing
    • Helping students adjust to a new school

  • School Visits & Library Tours

    We offer presentations on a variety of topics, including booktalks, introductions to the library’s online resources, research skills and evaluating online information. Presentations can be customized to the topic you are studying.

    The library offers outreach storytime programs and staff development sessions for preschool agencies, daycares, preschools and parent groups. For more information, please visit Presentations for Young Children.

    We also offer in-school presentations on a variety of topics for school classes. For details, please visit Presentations for School Age Kids for kindergarten to grade 6 or Presentations for Teens for grades 7 to 12.

    The library offers library tours and in-school presentations for kindergarten to grade 12 classes and community groups. For details, please visit Presentations for School Age Kids for kindergarten to grade 6 or Presentations for Teens for grades 7 to 12.

    We can help school classes get signed up for library cards by providing teachers with application forms to go home to parents/guardians. We will then pick up the completed application forms and bring the completed library cards to the school.

    For students who live outside of Strathcona County, we are able to register them through the ME Libraries service to borrow physical items from Strathcona County Library using their home library card.
